Do you pay?
We pay a flat fee of $25 per published submission in our print journal. We do not pay for flash fiction stories published on the website unless we also choose to publish it in the journal.
Do you charge a fee to submit?
No.

What sort of art can I submit?
We print our journal in color, so black & white art as well as color art is accepted. Painting, illustration, collage, comics, photography…we’re open to just about anything as long as it has gothic vibes. We particularly like creepy nature art. Our journal has a 5.5 x 8.5 trim size, so keep at in mind when submitting.
What kind of writing are you looking for?
ALL writing submitted should be strongly within the Pacific Northwest gothic genre. Please please please do not send us anything other than Pacific Northwest gothic writing. Please.
Do you publish nonfiction?
Yes, we publish nonfiction in the journal written by PNW Gothic staff writers. At this time we are not accepting nonfiction submissions.
Are you looking for slush readers?
Not at this time. If this changes we will announce it on our social media channels and substack newsletter.
Where can I buy a copy of the journal?
The journal will be available for sale through the regular online channels–Amazon, Bookshop.org, etc. When we have a list of bookstores carrying it we’ll post that information.

Will you review my book?
We’d love to read your work, before reaching out to us read the four questions below. If your answer to all four questions below is yes, shoot us an email with a brief summary of the book (no more than 300 words), a short author bio, and a link where the book is currently for sale or pre-sale with “book review request” in the subject line.

- Is its pub date within the last year or in the future?
Will you beta read my book?
If you are a Pacific Northwest author, writing a book set in the Pacific Northwest, in the gothic genre–maybe. We offer beta reading at a fee of $3 per 1,000 words (so, for example, a typical 75,000 word book would cost $225). For this amount you’ll receive an edit letter summarizing major issues around plot structure, character development, dialogue, setting, and more, as well as a marked up manuscript highlighting the good, the bad, and the ugly. This will not be a line edit, copyedit, or proofread of your manuscript. If you’re interested in us beta reading your book, send us an email to info@pnwgothic.com with “beta read request” in the subject line. Include a 500 word summary of the book as well as the first five pages and we will let you know if we can fit your book into our schedule.
